A new Jack’s Pets store located on Dayton-Xenia Road near Kroger is nearing completion. The new store will open in June and employ 12-15 people . Jack’s Pets has 30 stores in Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Indiana. Jack’s Pets Corporate Support & Distribution Center is also located in Beavercreek, Ohio and recently underwent a $1 million expansion itself.

Beavercreek Voters Defeat Income Tax
On May 7 Beavercreek voters soundly rejected the latest attempt to pass an income tax in the city with a vote of 61.5% against the tax and 38.5% for the tax. The 1.5% income tax was the subject of much debate the past few months with city officials pressing hard for the tax and local groups like Taxbusters PAC arguing against.
Nutter Center Job Fair Attracts Many
A Job Fair held at the Nutter Center on April 10th attracted many job seekers. The fair was primarily geared toward military and their dependents, but was open to the general public as well.

A new combination Toys R Us and Babies R Us is opening in Beavercreek. The current Toy R Us in Beavercreek is moving to the new new store which is actually just a few retail spaces down in the same shopping center.
WPAFB Freedom’s Call Tattoo Cancelled
WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, OH – Freedom’s Call Tattoo, scheduled for June 28, has been cancelled due to funding limitations associated with the federal budget sequestration, base officials announced March 14, 2013.
March Snowfall Blankets Beavercreek
The snow held off all day, but when it arrived it came down fast. After a day of mixed weather filled with rain and sleet, a wave of snow hit in the evening hours blanketing Beavercreek and the Miami Valley. A worker at Kroger was heard to say, “I looked out and it was normal, then I looked back and it was all white!” While it didn’t come down quite that fast, it did acumulate quickly.
Sequester Could Affect City Income Tax Vote
With the sequester going into effect, some Wright-Patt civilian employees will face a tough question on the May ballot. Will they vote themselves an income tax after recently being furloughed and losing a portion of their pay? Currently civilian employees who work at Wright-Patt and live in the city of Beavercreek pay no city income tax. A vote of “yes” on Beavercreek’s city income tax measure would change that.
Raiders Swim Club May Share YMCA With Public
As the Dayton Raiders Swim Club prepares to take over the Lofino (Beavercreek) YMCA on May 1, Chris Sperber, President of the Dayton Raiders Swim Club Board, isn’t ruling out the possibility of sharing the facility by offering some programs to the general public of Beavercreek.
